Seasons | ऋतु

Each season at Van Vadi brings a different sight, smell, taste, sound, and therefore, an altogether different experience.
Through this turning of the seasons, what stays constant is a sense of wholesomeness and connection to nature. And this is what we want to share with you.

The rainy months (July - September) are breathtakingly gorgeous but also the most arduous. There are clouds hovering around, the forest turns lush green, the stream turns into a gushing river, the roads become trails, and you hike everywhere.
This is how hills are, they toughen you up with the charms of their beauty. And just when you think you’ve figured them out, they turn around dazzling you with yet another season, and new sounds and new sensory experiences.

Things You Should Know
Carry refillable water bottles.
You should carry and wear hiking boots if you intend on walking up and down the various trails, forests, and fields around here.
From October to April, carry warm clothing as the weather can get cold. In the monsoon, carry light thermal clothing as it can get cold in case of prolonged rainfalls.
We have summer coolers in the rooms, and we don’t intentionally have air conditioners to conserve energy as well as to have a more neutral carbon footprint. Our splash pool is perfect for a drench on a warm summer afternoon, or for some toe-dipping while you sip your cool evening beverage.
During monsoons, the stream overflows, cutting direct access to Van Vadi. In such times, you hike up the hill for around a kilometre. Therefore, we request you to travel light and carry your stuff in a backpack. If required, we can arrange mules for luggage. Our team member will be there to escort you for the hike.
During monsoons, weather can be unpredictable and rains can last longer than what the forecasts show. This can impact your travel plans. Therefore, it’s good to come with some flexibility.
Although most activities suitable for the monsoons are indoors, we suggest you bring raincoats if you wish to hike around during the rains. Best to bring mosquito repellents to avoid being bit while walking.
Bring hats or caps and sunscreen if you wish to hike around in the sun.
